ITA is a governmental organization, belonging to the Ministry of External Affairs of Italy. The Agency is present in about 70 countries.

Key directions of activities of ITA it to enhance bilateral trade and economic cooperation between the countries, help Italian companies to internalize in various markets, as well as promote “Made in Italy”. In Georgia ITA has a desk representation (not constant) under the Embassy, reporting to its regional office located in Baku, Azerbaijan.
